About Me

My photo
I'm turning 40 this year so I guess it's time to figure out who I am. I can tell you basics. I'm married to my best friend Paul. Have 6 great kids. Two doggies, a spoiled rotten cat, and two snakes. I currently work as a nurse. I am a major book worm. Read every chance I get.

I'm losing it

I don't know how much longer I can hold onto my marriage. It crushes my heart to realize this. These 2 stepkids of mine have made it their lives mission to get me gone and I'm really thinking maybe that would be best for everyone. I truely love my husband but I'm wondering if it's worth sacrificing my whole personality to stay here. It's way too embarrassing to even post the things they've done to me lately. He even says that he doesn't know what to do with them.

Financially I'm not doing the best right now and I don't want my kids to suffer..but they are suffering living here.

  1. Oh Shelby, I am so so sorry. I'm always here if you need to vent! (((hugs)))

  2. Hey...you guys need some help...get you some family coucilling and don't let those kids drive you apart. Being a stepparent is very hard. If you guys stand together as a united front they have no choice.

  3. I'm so sorry that those kids are still being brats with a capital B!! It is hell sometimes with step-kids. Keep your chin up and if you need to 'vent', I'm here for you!

  4. Oh Shelby, I am so sorry.... I really am. I've been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing.... I'm sorry to hear this is STILL going on with the kids. If you ever need to talk I'm here for you.

  5. Shelby, I agree with Deb. Maybe you can look into family counseling for all of you and separately for you and your husband.

  6. Sounds as though your husband needs to step up to the plate and set the record straight with his children. I'm not sure of their ages, but if they are in their teens then he needs to show them the door in a serious fashion. May just scare them enough to calm them down. Sheesh. Remember who the adults are in your home. Easier said than done, but it needs to be done. The marriage must come first with him. Sorry, but I have no patience for children with attitudes...

  7. Thanks girls. I've talked with one of the school counselors and she actually believed me and said she had been seeing one of the girls due to a teacher issue. She said she'll see what she can do or make my husband get her counseling.
He sees nothing wrong. He will yell at them for about 5 minutes and that's about it. I've told him I'm leaving soon and he said (and this is with confusion) that they'll still act badly. Now I'm sorry but I won't be the main one having to deal with it anymore.
    Thanks girls for listening. :)

  8. Shelby, that was an interesting statement from your husband. It is a shame that you have to give up your marriage, but you should not have to deal with children making you miserable. Geez, it is bad enough when our own do it. Hang in there. We are all sending you good thoughts and hope you can solve this in the way that is the best for you.
